Trip Information 2012

Paddling in tidal currents

Club trips and the annual club holiday offer you the opportunity to experience some of the finest sea kayaking in the world in the company of like-minded people. As with any outdoor pursuit there is an element of risk, so it is important to study the information below, understand and accept the basis of your participation and not put yourself or other paddlers at risk.

All children under age of 18 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult unless they have 2 star kayaking award or above. Some trips may not be suitable for children or less experienced adults - contact the trip organiser for advice if unsure.

Please email the trip organizer at least 2 days before the trip date so that they know how many people are coming and can let you know if the trip has to be cancelled for any reason. If you don't have your own boat and kit please contact the trip organiser who may be able to help.

Next club trip - February 2012

Alex Townend will lead a trip in the Plockton area on 12th February

More details nearer the time.

General Trip information

Your Responsibilities

 •  On trips you are responsible for making your own decisions and for your own safety.

 •  You should also be aware of the group as a whole and not do anything that may compromise the safety of others.

 •  You are responsible for informing the trip organizer of any medical problems that may affect your safety on the water.

 •  Weather and water conditions will affect what you can cope with at your own skill level and physical condition. You should do your own planning, listen to the weather forecast and make sure you are happy to do what the other paddlers want to do - if in doubt of your abilities to join the trip, please contact the trip organizer for advice.

Launching boats in kelp  •  You are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate food and drink and high energy snacks for the trip. You should also always have a change of warm clothing. The club has a small number of dry bags to store these items in your kayak, if you do not own any yourself.

 •  If you need a kayak or some kit please email or phone the trip organiser to arrange to use club equipment.

Trip Grading

These trips are organised/led by paddlers who may not be qualified coaches but are appropriately experienced paddlers. Trip gradings are intended to give some idea of the type of trip and level of experience required - however, please feel free to contact the trip organiser if you have any questions or doubts. The gradings at present are based on sea paddling - for river or open canoe trips please contact the organizer.
